Seven Springs Condo Fires Claims Two Lives

SEVEN SPRINGS (KDKA) ― Two people from Belle Vernon are dead following a fire in Somerset County Sunday morning.

The fire broke out just after 1 a.m. at a condominium along Sunridge Road on the Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

"The sky was just full of smoke. You couldn't see," said witness to the fire, Susie Pappas. "I mean we had difficulty just standing outside with the smoke, because it was starting to bother breathing."

Police say 26-year-old Sasha Zuro and 22-year-old Jonathan Murt, both of Belle Vernon, were killed in the fire.

The Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is investigating, but officials say it appears that the fire originated from a fireplace in Unit F-10 at the Villages at Seven Springs.

"It appears to be accidental in nature," said State Police trooper John Matchick. "We had the police fire marshal out on scene to conduct an investigation. It appears the fire originated from a fireplace."

Funeral arrangements are under way.

At least five condo units were damaged.
