Man Injured In Fireworks Explosion In Hermitage

HERMITAGE (KDKA) ― A man remains hospitalized with severe injuries after an explosion and fire at his home in Mercer County on the Fourth of July.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Anne Lane in Hermitage. The victim has been identified by officials as 45-year-old Vincent Fustos.

According to authorities, family members said Fustos was reportedly making fireworks in his basement when the explosion happened.

Police and the fire department were called to the scene.

Officials say family members ran back into the home to try to help Fustos get outside.

He was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment of burns and other injuries.

Authorities say the man is in critical condition.

Officials say the home was severely damaged in the explosion.
