Final preparations are underway for thousands of hunters as they get set to head into Pennsylvania's woods for firearms deer season on Monday.
It's expected that between 80,000 and 90,000 deer will be killed across the state on opening day.
This weekend at Anthony's Arms in West Mifflin, the talk was about the impending start of the season.
"Well most people have been getting their guns worked on, checking out their optics or their scopes on their guns," said Bruce Piendl, of Anthony's Arms. "We've ordered some rifles or rifle cases for some guys getting ready to go hunting."
For the seasoned hunter, preparations for deer season actually started a little over a month ago with preparing equipment, getting a new gun if necessary and for some hunters - going high-tech.
"One of the big selling items this year is trail cameras," said Piendl. "People put those out, you put them on a tree and when a deer walks by it takes a picture of what walks by. It has a motion sensor."
But some hunters say the old-fashioned way is the best instinct and a lot of luck.
"I go out in the dark, get back in the dark," said hunter Bill McCall. "I think most guys are hoping they got the right spot. They've done their homework and go into the woods and see some deer tomorrow."
Some rain is in the weather forecast for our area on Monday and that isn't ideal for hunting. But for the seasoned hunter - the thrill of just getting out there is the same.
