Ex-Baseball Coach Convicted In Fatal Crash

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) ― A former Washington Wild Things minor league baseball team coach has been convicted of homicide by vehicle in a crash that killed two people, but was cleared of the two most serious charges.

The Washington County jury cleared 29-year-old Roy Jacobs II, of Louisville, Ohio, of two counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence on Friday.

He was also convicted of driving under the influence.

The jury found him responsible for the death of Richard Morris of
Canonsburg, whose car Jacobs struck after leaving a team Christmas party on Dec. 2, 2005.

The crash happened on Interstate 70 in Canton Township.

Jacob's passenger, Robert Bernardini, of Washington, was also killed.

Jacobs testified that Bernardini was driving.

Both men were ejected.
