Expect Parkway East Delays This Weekend
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
There's a traffic alert for people traveling the Parkway East this weekend.
The outbound lanes of the Parkway East are restricted to one lane between the Edgewood-Swissvale and Churchill exits.
The work is scheduled to continue until early Monday morning.
There will be no work on the inbound lanes of the Parkway East this weekend.
The ramp from the outbound Parkway East to northbound Route 8 at the Wilkinsburg Interchange (Exit 8) will be fully closed until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2008.
Concrete patching, bridge deck overlay work and tree trimming operations will occur. Signs will be posted to guide motorists. The posted detour will be:
- Take the outbound Parkway East to the Churchill Interchange (Exit 10A)
- Exit onto Churchill Road (Route 2104)
- Make right onto Route 130 (Beulah Road)
- Make left onto the William Penn Highway (Route 2110)
- Follow to the inbound Parkway
- Take the inbound off ramp from the Parkway East to Route 8
The ramp connecting northbound Route 30 (Ardmore Boulevard) to the inbound and outbound Parkway East will be fully closed until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2008.
Concrete repairs and resurfacing will occur.
Signs will be posted to guide motorists. Traffic will continue northbound on Route 30/8 and use the southbound on-ramp from Wilkinsburg to access the Parkway East.
Police will be present to allow this U-turn movement.
The Chestnut Street Bridge over the Parkway East will be fully closed until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2008.
Bridge deck improvements will occur.
Signs will be posted to guide motorists.
Traffic will be detoured using Elm Street to Pennwood Avenue to Edgewood Avenue to Oakview Street.
Motorists are advised to leave extra time when traveling through the work zone or detour routes.
