State Sen. Regola Facing Civil Lawsuit

(KDKA) State Senator Bob Regola is now facing a civil lawsuit in connection with the death of his 14-year-old neighbor.

Last week, Regola was acquitted by a jury in a criminal case. In that trial, he was facing charges of perjury, reckless endangerment and allowing a minor, his son, illegally possesses the weapon.

The case stemmed from the death of Regola's neighbor, Louis Farrell, who was found shot to death in woods behind their homes in July of 2006. The teen's death was later ruled as suicide.

This morning, Farrell's parents filed a wrongful death suit against the Regola. It comes just four days before the statute of limitations would have expired.

The families still live in neighboring homes, and Regola said in an interview with KDKA that he hoped the Farrell family would not sue.
