Baby In Indiana County Beating Case Dies
BLACK LICK (KDKA) ―
A nineteen-month-old baby who had allegedly been severely beaten, bitten, and shaken by his mother's boyfriend in Black Lick Township, Indiana County, has died at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Leonard McIntire died Saturday after having been on life support.
He had been flown to Children's from Indiana Regional Medical Center with massive head injuries.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has determined the baby died of blunt force trauma to the head.
Police say 19-year-old Joshua Turner originally told them that the baby fell off his shoulders, but later confessed to the beating because the baby "had him real upset and angry."
Turner has already been arrested on an aggravated assault charge.
There's no word whether those charges will be upgraded to criminal homicide following the child's death.
