Man Accused Of Beating Child In Indiana County

BLACK LICK (KDKA) ― A 19-month old baby boy is fighting for his life after allegedly being beaten by his mother's boyfriend.

Police say 19-year-old Joshua Turner of Black Lick, Indiana County, abused the baby by punching, biting and shaking the baby with force.

According to a criminal complaint, Turner initially told police that the baby fell off his shoulders, but later confessed to the beating because the baby "had him real upset and angry."

Police say the baby's injuries are life-threatening.

Family members have been at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh around the clock since the child was flown there on Monday.

They say he remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Turner is now charged with aggravated assault.

He's being held in the Indiana County prison on $250,000 cash bond.
