Residents in Carnegie who have not paid their water bill started losing service at their homes this week.
According to borough officials, roughly 300 customers, or 10 percent of the population, are delinquents with their bills.
Residents owe more than $300,000.
But one woman's name ended up on the list shut-off list although she paid her bill.
"I want to know why they picked me for the delinquent shut-off notice," Linda Carpellotti said. "What if they would have turned my water off and I'm paid in full?"
She spoke to the water company and they say she's current.
Meantime, hundreds of residents have gotten shut-off notices and have flooded the borough offices with calls.
"I feel their frustration, I do through going through this process with residents," Whitney Brady, borough manager, said. "There's a lot of miscommunication, there's a lot of confusion around their bills. I'm open and available to talk to them whenever they want so they can stop down and that's probably the best way to get a hold of us."
The borough says it has sent two letters and called people. Customers who have received shut-off notices have 10 days before their service is shut off.
Officials say to go to the borough building and meet with them. A payment plan is available for people who can't pay the full amount.
