Crews Rescue 2 After Accident On Shenango River

TAYLOR TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― Officials say two people were rescued from the Shenango River in Lawrence County on Saturday after a canoeing accident.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. near a power plant in Taylor Township.

According to authorities, rescue crews were called out when a canoe tipped over in the water.

Officials say at least one person pulled from the water was unconscious at the scene.

The people who ended up in the water were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, authorities say.

Officials report that one of the victims has died

There is no word on the conditions of the other at this time.
