Boy Credited With Aiding Neighbor After Wind Storm

LEETSDALE (KDKA) ― A local boy is being credited as a hero by his neighbor after he heard her cries for help and came to her aid.

According to the Beaver County Times Online, 12-year-old Aleksander Teimouri, of Leetsdale, was out walking his dog the morning after the battering wind storm earlier this month from the remnants of Hurricane Ike when he noticed his neighbor needed help.

KDKA's Ross Guidotti reports that, like so many other residents across the area, the storm knocked out power to Marjorie Arnett, 63.

Arnett says she fell asleep that night and when she woke up her power was back. But when she went to turn off her lights and television for the night she fell and injured her back on her stairs, the Beaver County Times Online reports.

She says that's when she dragged herself to a window and used a flashlight to attract attention. Arnett also says she couldn't yell because of her injuries, so instead she whispered.

Eventually, the boy heard her, and crossed the yard where power lines had come down in the storm in order to get to her home.

He ended up calling for help for her and Arnett was taken by authorities to a local hospital.

Right now, Arnett tells KDKA that she is bedridden. But that hasn't stopped her from praising her brave neighbor.

Stay with KDKA for Ross Guidotti's full report on this story.
