Confluence Boat Explosion Causes Injuries

CONFLUENCE (AP) ― Three people are in the hospital after a boat they were on in a western Pennsylvania lake exploded.

Somerset County rescue workers say two people were flown to regional hospitals, and a third was driven to Somerset Hospital after the boat they were riding on the Youghiogheny River Lake exploded Sunday afternoon just after they launched it.

Five people were on board.

Confluence Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tom Close says the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak.

The State Fish and Boat Commission is investigating the cause of the fire.
