Billy Mays Honored At Alma Mater

MCKEES ROCKS (KDKA) ― The late pitchman Billy Mays was honored at his alma mater on Sunday with a tribute concert.

The event was held at Sto-Rox High School, where Mays graduated in 1977.

In addition to the concert, there was a petting zoo, face painting, singing and dancing.

Mays gained national fame pitching products such as Oxi Clean, Kaboom and Mighty Mendit, but those who knew him say he never forgot where he came from.

The event raised money for focus on renewal of a McKees Rocks social service agency.

Mays died on June 28 and the original cause of death was a heart attack. A toxicology report later revealed the presence of numerous drugs in his system at the time of his death, including cocaine.
