Westmoreland Co. Bank Remains Closed After Robbery

LAUGHLINTOWN (KDKA) ― A Westmoreland County bank was closed today after a violent armed robbery on Wednesday morning.

FBI agents were back at the First Commonwealth Bank in Laughlintown investigating after the robbery.

Officials say the robbery lasted less the five minutes, but in the process one bank employee was hit in the head with a gun and the suspects fled with an undetermined amount of money.

Investigators say they also believe two gunshots fired at a nearby Dollar General store in Ligonier was done to create a diversion.

The suspects were described as black males wearing motorcycle or paintball helmets.

Officials say they have surveillance tape, but it does not appear to be very helpful.
