Alleged Robber Runs Into Brentwood Woman's Home
BALDWIN (KDKA) ―
Police believe the man who robbed the Sunoco in Baldwin ran through a woman's home while police were in pursuit.
After the robbery at 2929 Churchview Ave., the suspect entered a house in Brentwood.
"I heard my front door open. I heard someone running through the house, heard my dog run down the steps," a woman who lives at the home said.
The woman remained upstairs because she assumed it was her son coming home after sleeping over at a friend's house.
Police say the man had just held up the Sunoco with a gun.
The woman believes the robber entered her home through the front door which was unlocked.
Her purse was on the floor but she says nothing was taken from it.
Before leaving her home through the kitchen door, the woman believes the man waited a few minutes.
Soon, police were at her door.
"They said, 'Put your hands where I can see them and come out of the house and bring your boyfriend with you,'" she said. "I said, 'I don't have a boyfriend.' I said, 'I'm married, my husband's in Phoenix.'"
She said police told her there was a man her basement with a gun. She grabbed her daughter and got out of the house.
The suspect had already left.
The woman says she's going to keep her door locked from now on.
The suspect was last seen wearing purple pajama pants and powder blue tennis shoes.
Police say they are working on a few leads.
