Attempted Homicide Suspect Turns Self In
UNIONTOWN (KDKA) ―
The second suspect in an attempted homicide in Nicholson Township in August turned himself in late Saturday night.
According to police, Donald Lee Evans Jr., 16, of Masontown, Pa., turned himself into police around 11:30 p.m. to State police without incident.
He is being held at the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 bail and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 10 at 3 p.m.
Police also have a 14-year-old in custody, who has been placed in juvenile detention in connection with the crime.
According to police, two teenagers were in a vehicle with David Lee Overfield, 46, of Morgantown, W. Va.
The two teens struck Overfield with a blunt object and pulled him from the vehicle. At that time, the teens bound him with rope, set him on fire and left him to die on Mack Farm Road on Aug. 22.
Overfield suffered burns to his chest, stomach, back, right arm and hand. He also had four broken vertebrae along with lacerations, bruises and contusions to his head and face.
He was treated at Ruby Hospital in Morgantown.
The suspects are facing charges of criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, robbery, criminal conspiracy and theft by unlawful taking or disposition relative to the victim.
