2 In Custody After Weapons Found In Franklin Twp.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― The investigation continues after authorities say police and other officials found guns, ammunition and hand grenades inside of a home in Franklin Township today.

Officials say it all started with a well-being call when police were sent to a home on Fire Street to look for a missing person.

"Came over to this address here in our township to check on the person's being here, and ended up falling upon some other issues, which led to recovery of a stolen gun and an arrest of two subjects and a recovery of a cache of weapons, some bomb making devices and a large amount of ammo," said Officer Kevin Radford, of the Franklin Township Police.

KDKA's Alison Morris reports that police said they found between 25 and 50 guns, more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition, gun powder and hand grenades, as well as an assortment of fake IDs and various military and police uniforms.

The Allegheny County Police Bomb Squad and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms were called in to help and spent much of the day sorting through the weapons, which were laid out on tarps in the backyard.

"It was pretty amazing, probably the biggest ones I've seen in the 34 years of my career," said Officer Radford.

Police say two men were arrested, the homeowner, identified as 47-year-old Dean Huzinec, and his friend, Dean Eaken, 43, of New Castle. Both men have extensive criminal records including felony gun charges, authorities said.

Neighbors add that Huzinec even had surveillance cameras set up throughout the house, but he never seemed to bother anyone and kept to himself.

"No one really ever sees him," said neighbor, William Weller. "He's a real quiet guy, keeps to himself mainly."

Police say both men were brought to the Beaver County Jail where they face arraignment by video.

Meanwhile, authorities say they are still looking for two to three other men and expect additional arrests to follow.
