Twinbrook Animal Clinic offers therapeutic exercises and equipment -- from an underwater treadmill to an exercise ball
KDKA
A new, state of the art rehabilitation facility has opened in our area; but it's not for man
it's for man's best friend.
It features therapeutic options like an underwater treadmill, laser therapy, even an electrical stimulation unit.
Dr. Janine Callen and her team of therapists at Twinbrook Animal Clinic in Valencia know just about anything can come through their door and that's why they have a wide range of options.
"We have ultrasound here," said Dr. Callen. "We have low-level laser therapy to help with healing and pain management. We have an acupuncturist who works with the animals to also help with their pain management. We an electrical stimulation unit they can help with that kind of thing and help build muscle mass."
And while Twinbrook helps critically injured animals, Dr. Callen says another problem they're seeing more and more is just as debilitating. "Weight loss is a huge thing-- most pets are overweight. Their joints will benefit greatly from weight loss."
It's roughly $80 to $120 just for the initial consultation and that includes setting up a home-care program and first rehab that day.
Then, they decide whether your pet needs to come once, twice, or three times a week for follow-up care.
Now, the therapeutic options facility at Twinbrook Animal Clinic is by referral-only; so patients must have their veterinarian send a referral form to the clinic.
