Truck Flips Down Hill, 1 Killed In Etna Accident

ETNA (KDKA) ― A man from Shaler is facing serious charges today after police say a truck careened down a wooded embankment in Etna resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.

Police say Stephen Novacic is being charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving.

Investigators say Novacic's truck went out of control on Washington Street around 3 p.m. It left the road, then came down the embankment and ended up flipping onto its side on an adjacent road, Parker Street, officials say.

As it was sliding, the truck brought down trees and power lines. Officials say one tree hit a motorcycle traveling on Parker Street.

The motorcyclist was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he later died just after 5:30 p.m.

His name has not yet been released.

Meanwhile, crews have closed down the roads while they investigate and clear the scene.

Also, Duquesne Light crews remain on the scene working to restore power to nearby residents.
