Mayor Unveils Plan To Curb Violence

ALLENTOWN (KDKA) ― Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl says he has a plan to curb street violence.

The announcement comes on the heels of a shooting involving a school van in St. Clair Village that sent a teenager to the hospital.

At a press conference, Ravenstahl says the three-part plan calls for moving the Zone 3 Police Station from the South Side to the intersection of Arlington and Warrington Avenues in Allentown.

"The more centralized location ideally will allow ideally our officers in Zone 3 to be more effective and be able to respond to calls in a more expeditious manner and then of course create that presence in these hill top communities that is desperately needed," Ravenstahl said.

The plan also calls for more patrols in those communities and a long-term plan for the juvenile detention centers.
