A new branch of the YMCA is coming to the tallest building in downtown Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh YMCA is partnering with UPMC to create the new facility. The central location is designed to pull from the downtown corporate area.
The gym will be located on the concourse level by the escalators. Architect drawings show the walls surrounding the gym will be glass.
While it won't have a swimming pool or an extended running track, it will have weights, treadmills, pilates, yoga and an assortment of other programs.
It's expected to be completed by mid-2008.
Plans are also in the works for another YMCA at the old GC Murphy building, which is slated to open in 2009.
