Vandals Target White Oak Church, Homes

WHITE OAK (KDKA) ― Police are asking for help finding those responsible for vandalizing a local church and homes over the weekend.

A church member found expletives and offensive symbols spray-painted on the front wall of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church yesterday morning.

"I looked outside and I saw such horrible, vulgar words on the church," Parishioner Theodora Hionis told KDKA. "I couldn't believe it. "

Since they couldn't remove the graffiti before Sunday services, church members covered as much as they could.

The church wasn't the only target.

The vandalism spree encompassed a 10-block area of White Oak – with satanic symbols and words like "Hells Pit" and "Insane" painted on area garages and homes.

Neighbors are still trying to come to grips with why someone would do such a thing.

"It hurts to see anyone would do something like that," Hionis added, "I don't know why."

Anyone with information is urged to call White Oak police.
