City Planning Commission Turns Down Strip Club

Strip Club Developer Plans To Appeal To City Council

WEST END (KDKA) ― With strong neighborhood opposition, the Pittsburgh Planning Commission is strongly recommending against a proposed strip club in the West End.

Developer Pat Risha wanted to locate the club in a vacant building on West Carson Street, just down the street from Station Square.

He was promising an upscale gentlemen's club.

Upscale or not, neighborhood groups lined up in strong opposition, raising concerns about traffic and a lack of parking at the site.

They also feared more crime and less police protection.

Risha, who is the son of West Mifflin's school superintendent, will appeal the planning commission's ruling to Pittsburgh City Council.

But because the planning commission turned down the plan unanimously, council needs a super majority of seven votes to overrule the planning commission.

West End residents say they'll continue the fight and Risha says if he loses in city council, he'll head to the courts.
