WVU Dean Resigns Over Degree Scandal
MORGANTOWN (KDKA) ―
The dean of West Virginia University's College of Business and Economics is resigning in the wake of a scandal over a degree awarded to the governor's daughter.
R. Stephen Sears is the second academic officer to leave following a report that Mylan executive Heather Bresch was given a degree she did not earn.
On Sunday, it was announced that Provost Gerald Lang is also resigning.
An investigating panel concluded last week that WVU administrators used severely flawed judgment last fall when they retroactively awarded a degree to Bresch.
Mylan Inc. is based a Canonsburg-based pharmaceutical company.
