Uniontown Women Save Cat Abused By Teenagers

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) ― Two young women are being credited with saving a stray neighborhood kitten that was beaten by teenagers.

Katherine Musgrove, 19, and Mary Newman, 19, both of Uniontown, were at home Saturday when they discovered the abused cat.

They say teenagers had beaten the cat with a shovel, tried to feed it rat poison and threatened to feed it to a dog.

The incident apparently happened just down the road from their Lenox Street home. The girls took the cat in and cared for it. They have since turned it over to the Fayette County SPCA because they already have two cats of their own.

They're now hoping the cat they affectionately named Seaweed will find a loving home.

Uniontown police are now looking into who hurt the kitten.
