Tiffany's Opens At Ross Park Mall
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
There was lots of excitement today at Ross Park Mall as shoppers welcomed Pittsburgh's first ever Tiffany's.
By the welcome this upscale jeweler received, you'd think the economy was soaring, but it wasn't just the diamonds that attracted shoppers today, it was a chance to say they had breakfast at Tiffany's.
At 10 a.m., Tiffany and Company officially opened its doors giving shoppers a chance to get up close and personal with Tiffany diamonds.
Customers sipped on mimosas and nibbled on breakfast hors d'oeuvres.
"Everybody has to eat breakfast at Tiffany's at least once," said Candy Freinz of Washington, Pa.
And while you are at it, you can pick up some bling. Tiffany diamonds sparkled. You could pick up a $55,000 diamond necklace or a three carat diamond ring for $109,000.
According to Tiffany & Co, not even our economic downspin is enough to take the sparkle off today's opening.
"People will always continue to get engaged, get married, have children and celebrate anniversaries," said Tracy Weigand, a spokesperson, says, "so we are proud of the quality that hopefully our consumers will find the value in that and continue to shop with us regardless of economic conditions."
Nordstrom opens next door on Friday, October 24. Employees are busy putting the finishing touches on Nordstrom, a store known for its service.
Nordstrom says it wants shoppers to know that it has something for all pocketbooks. It says it fits somewhere between Macy's and Nieman Marcus.
"During these tough times, we understand people aren't going to be spending like they used to, but come on down. We want to introduce ourselves to the community and earn your business over the long term," Nordstrom's Brooke White said.
