PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Final preparations are underway for the start of the Three Rivers Regatta.

The festival kicks off on Friday and runs through the 4th of July weekend to Sunday.

Many activities are planned including concerts, powerboat races, a water ski stunt show, a competitive eating contest, the "Anything That Floats" race and a daring, high wire tightrope walk over the Allegheny River.

The annual fireworks show is planned for Saturday night.

Organizers say it will include more than 22,000 fireworks and will last about 25 minutes.

Also, police are warning the public that during the fireworks show no parking or stopping will be permitted on local bridges, ramps and interstates around downtown.

Police say anyone who violates this order will be cited and any vehicles left unattended will be towed.
