ME Continues Review Of Tasered Man's Death

SWISSVALE (KDKA) ― The investigation continues today into the death of a local man who authorities say died shortly after being tasered while in police custody.

Officials say 37-year-old Andre Thomas died at UPMC Braddock Hospital early on Tuesday after he was tasered because he was allegedly acting erratically while authorities were trying to subdue him.

But witnesses to the incident say police used excessive force against Thomas after he was subdued.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner says they have found no evidence that excessive force was used.

However, the manner and cause of Thomas's death has not yet been determined. The autopsy remains inconclusive as investigators wait for the results of toxicology reports and other studies.

Meanwhile, protestors gathered for a demonstration in front of the Swissvale Municipal building on Wednesday evening saying the would like the officers involved in the incident suspended, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Thomas's death remains under investigation by Allegheny County police, the District Attorney and the FBI is conducting a preliminary investigation.
