Two people were injured when a car and train collided in Sutersville, Westmoreland County.
The accident happened on Third Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. and witnesses say it is amazing that anyone survived.
Police say a man and a woman were inside the car that was struck by the CSX train.
The male victim managed to get out of the wreckage. The woman became entrapped in the wreckage and had to be cut out.
She was flown via helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. The male victim was also taken to a hospital.
Some residents say the driver of the car may have been attempting to beat the train, which is not unusual.
"People don't respect the trains," said resident John Smith. "They try to beat the trains. Some of them are accidents."
Officials say two of the three railroad crossings in Sutersville have no crossing arms to keep cars back.
This is the third crossing accident this year including a fatal accident.
