Firefighters and officers raced against time to pull two brothers out of a burning home in Stowe Township overnight.
And while they were able to get both men out of the home one didn't survive.
Sixty-three year-old William Naves is dead and his brother Richard is still in the hospital.
Busted windows and burnt panels are a few reminders of a deadly morning on Woodward Avenue.
"He had inhaled a lot of smoke at that point," said neighbor Lakeisha Smoot.
Smoot was watching early this morning as a fire ate its way through a house where brothers William and Richard Naves were staying.
"At that time, he had been in the house at least before they got their, like a few minutes," said Smoot.
Fire officials say the blaze began after 1 a.m. and appears to have started in the kitchen.
Police officers were able to get the brothers out of the home but William would later die.
"That makes me feel hopeless because I wasn't there to help. I have an 83 year old grandfather that could've happened to," said neighbor Keisha Snyder.
Snyder was watching the fire from her home and walked closer to see what was happening.
"All you seen was just the whole bunch of smoke in this area and you couldn't see anything," said Snyder.
And she had some level of concern.
"Was it going to spread or what else would happen?" said Snyder.
Though no other houses were damaged, Snyder had another concern once she found out that at least one of the brothers passed away.
"That could've been anyone in my family that lost their life in a fire," said Snyder.
Fire officials don't have a cause for this fire but say it appears to be accidental.
