Stowe Township Suspect Released From Custody
STOWE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ―
Allegheny County Police have released a man who was considered a suspect in a double murder in Stowe Township.
Investigators believe someone broke into a home Friday morning on Valley Street near Sto-Rox High School and killed 45-year-old Sonsiarae Watts and 44-year-old Dahl Palm.
County police questioned 55-year-old Wendell Jones who was Watts' ex-boyfriend after he turned himself in to police.
Charges have not been filed against him.
The grim discovery was too much for her family, especially with their knowledge of the history between the female victim and Jones.
They say they told police Jones allegedly left threatening messages on Watts' answering machine.
"Then he calls her talking about, 'I'm going to shoot you, I'm going to shoot Dahl and I'm going to shoot myself,' " Marquita Harris, the victim's sister, said. "We go back to the police station, and we tell them. We let them hear it and they told her, they looked at her and said with me standing there that, 'He's crazy. You got to be careful.'"
Watts filed a protection from abuse order against him May 31, claiming he beat her.
She wrote on the document, "He approached me from behind, punched me in the temple two times so hard I passed out. Then I was struck (punched) three more times breaking my nose."
Police executed a search warrant Friday in the Carnegie area where Jones was most recently staying.
