Homeowner Shoots Alleged Thief, DA To Review Case

STOGLETOWN (KDKA) ― There's a quiet lttle community in Monongahela called Stogletown but lately there's been a series of break-ins.

The most recent troubles happened at about 4 a.m. Sunday when a homeowner shot 23-year-old James Kress. He was allegedly stealing items from parked vehicles.

This reportedly happened Frye Avenue.

Kress remains in Allegheny General Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the leg and he may not be the only person facing charges.

The shooter, whose name police have not released, could be in trouble as well. In Pennsylvania, it's only legal to shoot someone who is actually on your property doing a crime.

The Washington County DA plans to meet with the police chief to determine if the shooter should be charged.
