Plan To Leave Early For Sunday's Steelers Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Arriving early to get through the traffic and deal with the stadium area construction is not only smart, it's crucial for Sunday because the Steelers say you will want to be in your seat by about 12:30 p.m.

"We have a pregame tribute that we're going to give to Ernie Holmes Dwight White and Myron Cope," says Pittsburgh Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett. "We want fans to participate in that and bring their towels for that tribute."

Inside Heinz Field, smokers might want to keep an eye out. The non-smoking areas are a little better marked this year. Also, the PRIDE Program is in effect to enforce the new fan conduct rules with a hotline and text message number available to report unruly fans.

"PRIDE is a team effort that combines fans staff and players working together to keep Heinz Field a fan friendly environment," says Lockett. "As soon as they enter the parking lots and enter the stadium we want to make sure the environment is something all fans can enjoy."

Inside Heinz Field the beer will be flowing, and so will the cash to buy it. Including the Allegheny County drink tax, as the signs readily tell you everywhere you look. The price of beer, $7.00-$7.50 is where it was during the Steelers final game against Jacksonville in January.

Whether it's specifically prepared or normal stadium fare, fans have been acclimated to the cost of being a hungry fan.

"I know we're going to pay when we get in here so, right now it doesn't bother me too much," says Eric Morton from the North Side.

"Well we try to bring in really good quality food, and really good quality options, and I think what they're paying for they are going to find to be very worthwhile," says Lockett.

"What are you going to do," says Holly Christy of Kennedy Township. "We're here, we're happy, can't wait to see the Steelers!"
