Peace March Passes Through Troubled Neighborhoods
ST. CLAIR VILLAGE (KDKA) ―
Pastor Maurice Trent of the Lighthouse Cathedral in St. Clair Village started a peace march in that community but had a message that stretched far beyond its borders.
A crowd of 50 began to swell as the march moved through Mt. Oliver, Knoxville, Beltzhoover and Allentown.
Knoxville had a special meaning for Carla Carter. Three years ago her 20-year-old Demarco Carter was killed not far from the peace march route.
"These young people need to come together and stop the violence," Carter said.
And there was significance in passing the corner of Arlington and Warrington Avenues in Allentown. The building there will be the new home of the Zone 3 police station in January.
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl announced the change last month hoping to bring police closer to problem areas.
