South Side Water Main Break Floods Homes

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Life is getting back to normal in one Pittsburgh neighborhood after a water main break sent thousands of gallons of water gushing into the street and into some homes.

A 16-inch cast iron pipe ruptured, near the intersection of Sarah and 25th Streets on the South Side late Sunday evening.

It took crews about two hears to isolate the break and shut off the water.

In all, a dozen homes were flooded and about 40 residential customers were left without water service for most of the day.

Crews worked throughout the day to repair the break.

A spokesman for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority says they fully expect repairs to be completed no later than 6 p.m.
