Memorial Day Parade Rolls Through South Hills

MOUNT LEBANON (KDKA) ― Hundreds of people came out to see the annual Memorial Day parade in the South Hills.

WWII jeeps rolled down West Liberty Avenue. They played an important role in the war effort.

"This '42 Ford was shipped to Europe five years ago for the 60th anniversary of D-day and home again," explained Julius Lorentzson, from the Military Vehicle Preservation Association.

"We restore these vehicles in honor of our country. These are WWII vehicles - actual vehicles that were over in Europe during the war," added Pat Nicholson, also from the Military Vehicle Preservation Association.

Whether it's WWII, the Civil War or the Persian Gulf War, Memorial Day is a time to honor those Americans who served and even made the ultimate sacrifice.

"It's good to see the people aren't forgetting what Memorial Day is all about they're coming out and seeing the parades and hopefully they're remembering our troops that have fallen many, many years ago and the troops that we're losing now," Attorney General Tom Corbett said.

The parade ended at the Mount Lebanon Cemetery with a service honoring America's fallen heroes past and present.
