Skiers are hitting the slopes today at one local resort.
Seven Springs Mountain Resort opened today for a weekend of skiing and snowboarding.
"We are excited to open this weekend as it is a great opportunity for families to enjoy the slopes before the Thanksgiving holiday," said John Mates, Seven Springs director of winter operations.
Ski patrol director Dick Barron says this is the first time in at least three years that skiers have been able to hit the slopes before Thanksgiving.
Hours of operation this weekend are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Meanwhile, Hidden Valley Four Seasons Ski Resort is firing up their new state of the art snow making machines today preparing for next weekend's big opening day promotion.
The promotion will feature two weekends of free skiing and lessons.
The resort will open Friday, November 28 through Sunday, November 30 as well as December 5 and 6 for free skiing.
There will be no charge for ski tickets or lessons and a new line of ski equipment will be available for rent.
All are invited to attend.
