Fire Destroys Church In Rowes Run, Fayette Co.
GRINDSTONE (KDKA) ―
A church in Fayette County burned down early Friday morning.
Volunteer firefighters from nine departments rushed to Grace Baptist Church in Rowes Run, near Grindstone to put out the blaze.
A newspaper delivery woman saw the flames before dawn and called for help.
Don Johnson, a deacon at the church, says it's not the first time the church has had to deal with destruction.
Years ago, a tornado ripped off the roof.
Daphne Livingstone, a member of the church for 10 years, says the church meant a lot to the small community.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, but it does not appear to be suspicious.
The church will worship Sunday at a fire hall in Grindstone.
No one was hurt in the fire.
The church has insurance coverage for the building and its contents.
