Blasting Test On Route 28 Blocks Traffic

HARMARVILLE (KDKA) ― Test blasting on a hillside along Route 28 caused a traffic problem on Route 28 earlier today near Harmarville.

It took crews long than expected to reopen the road following a test blast.

Traffic was supposed to be stopped in each direction for about 15 minutes as the hillside was rocked with small explosions.

However, not as much rock fell as was expected.

So, crews had to make sure more rocks did not fall.

It was a smaller version of the actual blasting that will happen this spring and summer.

PennDOT is trying to address the landslide problems along Route 28.

The project wraps up later this year.

Stay with KDKA for more details.
