Sources: Local Oral Surgeon Faces New Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A local oral surgeon already charged with sexually assaulting several female patients who were in his chair is facing more than a dozen new charges.

Police sources and District Court confirm that 15 warrants were issued today involving 15 new complaints against Dr. Robert Boyda, Jr.

He was first charged earlier this month with sexually assaulting four female patients while they were under anesthesia. But police tell KDKA 15 more women have come forward with similar allegations since the story broke.

Each of the new complaints contain separate charges and some of the victims are only referred to as "Jane Doe."

Details of the new charges will not be made public until Boyda appears in court.

Earlier this month, four women said Boyda exposed himself and touched them inappropriately while they were undergoing surgery. But Boyda's attorney says his client was never alone with patients and that an assistant was always present.

His attorney called the allegations "bizarre" and questioned the credibility of the alleged victims.

KDKA has also learned the state has suspended Boyda's medical license.

Boyda is expected to turn himself in tomorrow to face the new charges.
