Police Investigate Shooting Over Haircut Complaint

WASHINGTON, PA (KDKA) ― A hairstylist is behind bars this morning after officials say a complaint about a haircut allegedly prompted a shooting in Washington County.

Officials say it happened Thursday night inside an apartment on Donnan Avenue in the city of Washington.

Police say Monique Reed, 38, is facing charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Reed is accused of shooting 28-year-old Lauren Newton, officials report.

According to authorities, Reed was in her apartment cutting Newton's hair when a complaint about the haircut led to an argument. Police say that's when Reed allegedly shot Newton.

Newton was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for treatment. Officials say her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
