Fugitive Caught After Walking Away From Courthouse

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a suspect who walked out of a courthouse earlier this week and never returned.

According to officials, 41-year-old Raymond Demus was wanted in the case of alleged sexual assault of child.

Police received information that led them to a residence on the North Side around 11 p.m. Friday.

Demus was found inside hiding behind a big-screen television and was arrested without incident.

He is facing a list of charges including two counts of rape of a child, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and two counts of statutory sexual assault.

Authorities say Demus, who was out on bond, was offered plea agreement of 15 to 30 years in jail while in court on Wednesday.

Investigators say after that Demus left the courthouse during a recess and didn't come back.

A bench warrant was then issued for his arrest.

Demus is being held at the Allegheny County Jail without bond.
