Elderly Man Killed In Mobile Home Fire, Wife Hurt

PULASKI TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― A 78-year-old Beaver County man was killed in his trailer home after his oxygen concentrator tank caught fire early this morning.

The flames broke out around 5:30 a.m. on Grove Avenue in Pulaski Township.

The victim has been identified as Donald Hawthorne.

According to Pulsaki Fire Chief Rich Morrell, Hawthorne's wife, Bernie, tried to douse the flames that engulfed her husband.

She has been listed in fair condition at Heritage Valley-Beaver Medical Center.

Morrell says he suspects the victim was smoking and that caused the fire.

At this point, the fire chief believes the fire will be ruled accidental.
