Port Authority Officials Approve Fare Increase
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
The Port Authority Board of Directors has now approved the proposed fare increase for bus and trolley riders.
This marks the first fare increase in more than five years.
The base fare is going up 25 cents, from $1. 75 to $2.00.
Officials say zone fares are also going up.
The increases are set to take effect on January 1, 2008.
This is the second phase needed to offset a multi-million dollar budget deficit . The Port Authority trimmed service by 15 percent back in June.
