Teen Hit By 'T' Could Face Charges In Attack

CASTLE SHANNON (KDKA) ― Police may file charges against a teen who remains in the hospital with serious injuries after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend, and then was struck by a 'T' car in what investigators are calling an attempt to take his own life.

Police say the boy was found when they were called to the Port Authority's Arlington Park light rail train stop.

Investigators report that the boy allegedly used a hammer to beat his former girlfriend in a nearby wooded area. Police say that happened after she broke up with him earlier that day.

According to Mount Lebanon police, it appears the teen may have attempted to take his own life by jumping in front of the trolley car on Wednesday during the evening rush hour.

"He's a nice kid if you get to know him, but I never thought he would do anything like that," said one student.

The girl was taken to Children's Hospital for treatment of severe facial injuries. She is expected to make a full recovery.

One witness who said she saw the girl after the attack reports that the victim's face was puffy and she had blood in her hair.

Police have not released their names, but both are 16 and are students at
Mount Lebanon High School.

Meanwhile, Mt. Lebanon school officials say they brought in grief counselors to help other students deal with the incident.

Allegheny County police continue their investigation.
