Pittsburgh Police are investigating the death of a baby girl in Garfield.
Police say 10-month-old Marcia Poston was found unresponsive and appeared to have blood around her ears at Bray's Family Day Care in the 5100-block of Dearborn Street. It is licensed and is operated from a home leased by Loretta Bray.
There were six children, including the baby, in the daycare center at the time ranging from ages 7 to 10 months and they were all in the basement being looked after by a 20-year-old daycare provider.
According to investigators, a 7-year-old girl allegedly told police that when the daycare provider went upstairs to the first floor to change the diaper of a 1-year-old, she picked up Marcia from her baby seat and threw her on the ground at least twice. Then, the girl picked up the baby and put her on the love seat.
Police say that while the daycare provider was upstairs, she heard a noise and went to go check on everyone. That's when she found the baby and called 911.
Poston was rushed to Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
