Counties Remain Under Winter Weather Advisory

Weather: Current Conditions | Local Radar | Weather Map

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Several parts of the area remain under a winter weather advisory, while a winter weather advisory remains in effect through midnight for other counties.

KDKA Meteorologist Dave Trygar says that things are beginning to taper off and that while the immediate Pittsburgh area got between 1 to 3 inches of snow, parts of the northern counties have already seen up to 10 inches.

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Crawford, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Venango and Washington counties through midnight.

Forecasters say a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will continue through this evening.

Trygar says both Butler and southeastern Lawrence counties seem to be the hardest hit areas.

"Late last night we started to see indications that the storm track was going to change, which is so important particularly with this storm," said KDKA Meteorologist Dave Trygar.

"The storm is moving a little more to the north than expected," he said. "This will allow warmer air to make it farther north that originally thought. So, we've trimmed back on snowfall totals in areas along and south of I-76. However, our friends to the north will see between 6 and 10 inches of snow by the time this storm exits tonight."

Those out on the roads are being advised to go slow and use caution because of slippery conditions and limited visibility.
