As a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of the area through Friday night, many Pittsburghers are out and about now preparing for what may be the first significant snowfall of the season.
KDKA's Alison Morris caught up with some local residents today preparing for the white stuff at the Home Depot in East Liberty.
People heard the good word early this morning, knew the snow was coming, and now are doing what any smart Pittsburgher would do. They headed out to start loading up on the shovels and the salt.
"We're well prepared," said Lora Romano, a clerk at the Home Depot. "We've got our rock salt, we've got the calcium chloride, we've got the Road Runner, which is a mix of the two together."
Elizabeth Johnson, of Wilkinsburg, said she came out to buy some salt.
"I take a cup and just maybe put five on each step," said Johnson. "Five right on the sidewalk. That's enough."
Meanwhile, Verona resident, Pete Morabito, wasn't just buying supplies for himself. He told KDKA that he was picking up a bag of salt for his 92-year-old neighbor, too.
As for what he plans to do during the snowfall, Morabito says he plans to stay home warm on his couch, watching the Steelers play the Bengals.
But he added that he's use to the snow by now, "You're born and raised in Pittsburgh, this is normal."
