Appraisers Uncover 'Hidden Treasures'

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Thousands of people rummaged through their attics, basements and garages last fall and brought in whatever they could find that might be worth something to the "Hidden Treasures" event at the Heinz History Center.

For some people, their trash turned into treasure. One man brought in his baseball card collection.

"What Chuck has here is … original cards from the holy grail of baseball card collecting," John Taylor, an appraiser, said.

Several hopefuls brought in artwork that you'd never know the value of unless you were an expert.

When it was all over, some went home a lot richer, while others learned a lot more about their items in addition to having a good time.

Tonight, the first of several episodes of "Hidden Treasures" with KDKA-TV Anchor Ken Rice, KDKA Consumer Editor Yvonne Zanos and History Center CEO Andy Masich airs at 7:30 p.m. on KDKA-TV.
