Carrick Student Found In Possession Of Loaded Gun

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Pittsburgh Public Schools confirms that a letter was sent home with parents regarding a student that was found in possession of a gun.

KDKA's Don Cannon reports that the 17-year-old, 11th-grade student who was found in possession of the gun was in fact carrying a loaded 22 caliber pistol.

The student is in jail on five counts of indecent assault, resisting arrest and possession of a firearm.

The letter went home with parents from Carrick High School on Wednesday saying that a student was found in possession of a gun, while being interviewed for an unrelated incident.

No students were threatened or harmed as a result of the discovery.

A few students witnessed the event.

The letter was sent home in an effort to keep parents and students informed.

Principal Anita M. Burley says that they will continue to work with parents to ensure that students and staff are safe while attending school.
